SPC including inspection planning, data acquisition and analysis: with Cosmino, everything in one system instead of isolated solutions

In many manufacturing companies, inspection planning and data acquisition are carried out in an MES or CAQ system, while separate tools such as qsSTAT or Minitab are used for statistical analysis. The use of these programs is often driven by OEM requirements or highly specialized analysis needs.
However, this creates a gap in day-to-day shopfloor operations: to monitor process capability reliably and cost-effectively in real time and to take immediate corrective action when limits are exceeded, statistical evaluation must already take place during data acquisition.
This is exactly where Cosmino comes in. Process capability indices such as Cpk and Ppk, as well as key statistical measures like the mean value and standard deviation, are calculated directly within the system. This enables control charts to be displayed directly in the shopfloor interface, allowing processes to be evaluated without delay and adjusted promptly whenever limit violations or deviations occur.
Subsequent data transfer to external statistical analysis tools remains straightforward: Cosmino provides the data in the required formats, enabling further processing in applications such as qsSTAT, Minitab, or the open-source statistical software R.
If no separate statistical software is available—or required—graphical analyses of statistical key figures can instead be provided directly within Cosmino. This allows users to focus on the results without needing extensive statistical expertise and to use the insights for fast, informed decision-making.
Cosmino relies on a user-guided dialog already during data acquisition, reducing operator errors and ensuring high data quality.
Measurement data can also be automatically transferred in real time from connected measuring machines. Dedicated dialogs for visualization and process control are available for these values as well, allowing automatically acquired inspection data to be immediately incorporated into process monitoring and control.
Combined with the integrated analytics, this creates a seamless solution for Statistical Process Control (SPC) – from inspection planning and data acquisition to analysis.
